Fiber
optic cable is a technology that make use of a bundle of super thin
filaments of glass threads each of which is capable of transmitting
messages modulated onto light waves.
It is more expensive
than copper wire but offers higher transmission speed and can communicate
over a much longer distance.
Fiber optic cables are available in
either single mode or multimode and different wavelength.
The most commonly used fiber optic cable
in the computer network industry are either 50/125 micron or 62.5/125 micron
multimode cable.
